ESF Migrant Employment Support project 2011-13 ‘Bedford Transqual’

The ‘Bedford Transqual’ project will provide support to 180 unemployed migrants (aged 19+) living in Bedford Borough and seeking to gain paid employment within the UK.

The project will run from January 2012 until December 2013 and will offer three strands of support for participants*:

  • Pre-entry level English Language Training : A 36 hour course designed to deliver English language training through ‘living and working in the UK’ topics. 80 participants will benefit from this training. The course will help prepare migrants for work and provide the first step to accessing mainstream English language courses.
  • Qualification conversion: A chance for 150 participants to apply to have qualifications gained within their home nation converted into an UK ‘equivalent’. We use the Government endorsed NARIC system to compare qualifications and participants will all receive help and advice pre and post conversion.
  • Into employment support: Tailored support to assist participants in their search for work.  Support is based on the need of the individual and could include CV writing, interview techniques, job search and the completion of application forms.

* Places are limited and eligibility criteria does apply – for more information please contact the Project Coordinator (contact details below).

‘ESF is a partnership initiative with Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedford Borough Council as part of their ongoing commitment to improve economic development and employment throughout Bedfordshire’.
