Economic Participation Luton – Workability Champions

The Workability Champions project delivers a fully functioning network of Workability Champions across all of the deprived communities in Luton.

The project provides a strategic level intervention that promotes opportunities for accessing advice, learning, and support for workless young people and adults to help them move closer to the labour market and into employment.

Four Workability Champions are based in the community and work from established venues in the 8 deprived communities named in the project with high rates of unemployment.  Support offered will include:

  • Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
  • Pre-employment training to a standard required by local employers
  • Signposting to further services for personal and family support.

Pre Entry provision is offered which is delivered through a number of Bedfordshire based training providers.  Champions will refer individuals into the support available through the project and where appropriate signpost and refer to other external agencies.
