The Miracle Community Centre has been launched to serve the needs of the community. It is based at 36/38 Alexandra Road in Bedford and is opened on Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 12 noon and also from 1pm to 3pm.
At the centre there are many projects operating throughout the week. With the aid of funding from the Learning Partnership Bedfordshire & Luton Ltd, we were delivering in 2004-05 to members of the community a 'Community Drop-in IT Programme'. This programme provided ICT computer classes to the post-16 population. With the additional support of Learndirect we have been able to provide to many of our older members of the community the means to improve their literacy and numeracy skills as they journey along the ICT pathway.
The computer courses range from lessons for those who have never used a computer to lessons for those who are familiar with the computer but would like to improve their skills and abilities. As quoted by one of our members, "I have always been afraid of computers never believing that I would ever be able to use them, but now after joining the Tuesday IT course, which I really enjoy, I am looking for a computer to practice at home".
For more information about the free computer courses being run at the Miracle Community Centre at 36-38 Alexandra Road in Bedford. Please contact Mrs Ruth Haye, Project Manager on 01234 214229.
