The primary aims of this project were to pilot some basic E-learning provision to adults within the day care centre community in Bedfordshire and Luton, people who could be classified as having profound and/or multiple difficulties/disabilities.
The LSC’s vision for provision for Learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LLDD) is driven by Learning for Living and Work (LLW). In order to move the LLDD agenda forward the Learning Partnership Bedfordshire and Luton sought funding through the local LSC 'Working Together' Fund to run a pilot project taking e-learning opportunities to this cohort.
New Age Training undertook the delivery of the project, across two day care centres, one in Luton (Bramingham Centre) and one in Kempston (Kempston Centre). Each centre permitted six willing students to participate in the E-Learning project. The project was undertaken for 2 hours each week over a 6 week period at both day centre locations. The project encompassed basic ICT training such as word, mouse skills, passwords and usernames, email and internet, on-line shopping and information searches. Moving onto Digital Blue Movie Creator editing software and camera equipment – specifically adapted and manageable editing and special effects techniques designed for those with LDD.
The project gave the 12 LDD students the opportunity to learn ICT skills. The Bramingham Day Centre felt that project was a great success in terms of customer involvement and learning outcomes. They also felt that project was engaging and interesting and kept the learners attention throughout.
