Polish-British Integration Centre - ESOL for Integration

The aim of the project was to support integration of newly arrived Poles into the UK. This course grew out of experience of supporting Polish Workers and was a direct response to Migrants’ needs.  The course covered basic ESOL skills, essential facts about living and working in UK and encouraged employability and further learning.  A total of 75 learners enrolled for Bedford and Luton courses and 62 learners completed the full course.  All learners were aged 19 – 60, with the vast majority below the age of 40.  All of the male learners were currently employed and in unskilled or low skilled jobs. For migrant workers it was an ESOL learning opportunity and taught students about the local community both in a cultural and geographical sense, and then putting them in touch with the local employers.
