Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) 2007-2008

The purpose of the Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) funding is to:

"Support local and voluntary and community sector organisations to develop their capacity to deliver learning opportunities for residents of disadvantaged neighbourhoods" (Programme guidance - DfES 2002-3)

  • In all the poorest neighbourhoods, to help people back into work, reduce crime and improve health, skills, housing and physical environment and
  • to narrow the gap on these measures between the most deprived neighbourhoods and the rest of the country.

The Learning Partnership has managed the fund successfully on behalf of the LSC for the past four years.

The key objectives in the managing the fund are to engage the project, of which there were eleven this year.  To contract with those organisations, monitor, support and evaluate and to ensure that the benefits of NLDC funding were maximised.
