Leagrave Primary School

The project was set up to provide learning and training opportunities within the Leagrave area of Luton.  It was requested by the community following the community conversation, and the return of questionnaires issued by Leagrave Primary School.  The project's aims and objectives were to develop and deliver training and learning opportunities in Leagrave, that were flexible and of high quality.  Meeting the needs and demands of the adult community, particularly those who were hard to reach, thereby contributing to lowering unemployment and improving skills, knowledge and understanding.

The different groups we worked with were:

  • Beavers
  • Scots
  • Clubs
  • Explorers
  • Rainbows
  • Family Learning
  • Luton Family Workers

The project delivered various different training sessions which included first aid, ICT from scratch, ICT general, Basic Skills to support children through SATS and ESOL.  The impact that the project had on the community was that various partnerships were developed and delivered flexible, high quality training and learning opportunities.  We ensured that we recognised the needs and demands of the adult community, raising the expectations of what can be achieved by individuals actively participating in our community.  This in turn contributed to a high level of students accessing the courses  that certified that the academic education and improved self esteem contributed to lowering unemployment and improving skills, knowledge and understanding.  In total over 120 learners benefited from the initative.
