The learners on the course were able to benefit from old computers which the community centre staff had managed to get donated from a wide range of agencies. This allowed for the machines to be stripped down and usable parts recycled for their use. The other provider in this project was ACL who provided the tutors. This project was aimed at teaching people in a deprived area how to maintain a computer, it encompassed how to build a computer from the beginning and to be able to detect any problems. The course entailed a lot of maintenance activities of using old computers, learning all about the inside and how it works. The students learnt how to build a working computer for themselves.

This project has helped many students go onto further education but it mainly helped build the confidence of the learners. After completing this course the students were able to undertake their own computer repairs, saving money and time at home. With this knowledge a few students felt it could help their work prospects. Those students who completed the 30 week course were able to take away their own rebuilt computer. Although, the project has completed staff at the community centre are continuing to offer support to those students wishing to learn more.
