Pre Entry Luton - The Chamber Bedfordshire and Luton

  


The overview of the project was to deliver training solutions to adults from the most deprived communities, focusing on unemployed or from BME groups.

The partners in the project were:

Turning Corners Marsh Farm
Ethnic Minority Training Project
Dallow Development Trust/Lewsey
Barnfield College

The project activities undertaken were: To target individuals over the age of 19, BME groups, over 50’s and long term unemployed. To build confidence and facilitate personal development through individual needs analysis and provision of training including basic skills. To assist with employment prospects for targeted beneficiaries.

The project outcomes were:

  • Working with other groups to put on Job Fairs and 1>1’s. These groups have had positive outcomes and some of the beneficiaries have progressed on to further programmes such as the Princes Trust.
  • Given an incentive to develop/learn for groups who regularly meet on a social basis.


The impact that this project had was:

  • Programme has proved a successful business initiative
  • Brought the community together in areas for progression
  • Benefit of integrating Skills for Life into vocational courses (ESOL)
  • Progress to accredited courses
  • Benefits to Partners of networking opportunities
