NCLP is a Charitable Status ‘Not for Profit’ organisation that develops and provide educational and welfare based courses with embedded life skills for young people, parents and parents to be. We promote partnership working with professionals from government, statutory and voluntary organisations and believe that by working together, the young people of today and the children of tomorrow will be the beneficiaries.

NCLP works with over 70 centres nationally and in Wales and Northern Ireland who deliver the parenting programmes as part of a national partnership.

NCLP is recognised for the quality and excellence of its training materials and gained a UK Skills, Highly Commended National Training Award in October 2006.

The materials for both Young Mums To Be and Parents with Prospects have been designed in partnership with young parents and parents to be along with health and education specialists.

You’ve scored

You’ve Scored  has been developed to cover a number of health and social issues such as mental and sexual health. Delivery is aimed at young people and schools/colleges and PSHE – and ‘informal educational settings’.

Each course will have at its core mental health and self-esteem and is based around the  ‘Five C’s’ – five one hour sessions consisting (depending on content of each session) 15 – 30 minutes of learning, followed by 30 -45 minutes of sports coaching ( predominantly football).  Learning will be reinforced during the sports sessions. Sessions will be delivered by a football coach – with support from tutors as required. The sessions cover:

  • Competence – Positive view of one’s actions and capability
  • Confidence – Internal sense of self-worth and being good at things
  • Connection – Positive bonds with people and institutions
  • Character – Respect for rules, correct behaviour

Currently under development is a course for Dads!
