The Partners
The people involved in the Learning Partnership have one thing in common; they recognise that individual skill development is critical to economic success and social cohesion. Working together alongside existing organisations, their overriding aim is to being prosperity to the community. By becoming involved with your local learning partnership, you, too, can play your own important part in contributing to the common good.
The Partnership Community Forum
The Partnership Community Forum (PCF) was established by the Learning Partnership in 2000 as a cross county group to provide a focal point and mechanism for a two way information exchange between the Learning Partnership and local Voluntary and Community groups. These are often the first point of contact for individual and latent learners who are the focus of the Learning Partnerships mission to 'Widen and deepen participation in lifelong learning' and in carrying out that mission, the Partnership Community Forum is a vital link. From time to time members of the PCF will form cross cutting theme groups to deal with a particular issue or join together to submit a collaborative bid for external funds.
In 2001, building upon the success of the PCF and anticipating the governments intention to 'hear the voice of local learners', local area groups were established to correspond to the district or borough council boundaries of North Bedford, South and Mid Bedfordshire. These adopted the title Community Learning Forums (CLF). All Fora are inclusive and open to all organisations or groups who have an involvement or interest in learning in the widest sense. The area CLFs have acted as a reference group in informing the development of the Local Strategic Partnerships (LSP) Community Plans, details of which can be found by following the link at the top of the page. With the development of the LSP's the Mid and South Beds Group merged with the LSP Henatic groups. The North Beds still choosing to meet on a quarterly basis.
